David Hockney Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Clawson on May 7, 2024.
David K. Hockney is Running with Jesus
David K. Hockney, age 82, passed away peacefully on May 6, surrounded by his family, a testament to his devotion to loved ones and his unwavering faith. A beloved husband, father, brother, and son, he is survived by his wife, Carmella, whom he adored as his best friend and lovingly called "Mella" throughout their 58-year marriage. Their enduring marriage and partnership were the cornerstone of his life and his business endeavors, which began with the founding of Ginger Group Hair Salon in 1972, followed by Carda' International and the launch of numerous innovative product lines over the years. Together with Carmella, alongside his children and brother, David built a legacy of selfless service to clients and employees for more than 60 years. Additionally, as a lifelong entrepreneur, he traveled worldwide to educate and mentor countless individuals in the industry.
David was an athlete and health & wellness advocate who treated his body as a temple and pursued many sports with passion. From football and golf to running and strength training, he found joy in staying active and even completed the Boston Marathon multiple times. He was an ardent fan of the Detroit Lions (and LA Rams, most recently), as well as a devoted follower of PGA tournaments. His love for family was equally prominent, and his contagious smile and boisterous laughter were the highlights of annual family trips to Disney World, reunions in Canada and throughout Europe, and joyous holiday gatherings over the years and through many generations.
A devout Catholic, David held steadfast to his faith, often praying the Rosary and finding solace in Eucharistic Adoration. His dedication to his beliefs was an inspiration to all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Carmella; David Jr.; daughter and son-in-law, Gia and Scott Anderson; brothers, Ken and John; and grandchildren, Ethan, Ella, and Kai. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Mignon, Theresa, Linda, Elizabeth; brother-in-law, Alfred; and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. David will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, and the profound impact he made on the lives of those fortunate enough to know him.
All are welcome to attend and celebrate David's life. The Celebration of Life Mass is scheduled for Tuesday, May 14 at 10 am at Holy Name Catholic Church in Birmingham, Michigan, with a reception to follow. THE MASS WILL BE LIVESTREAMED HERE. Monsignor Zenz will officiate the ceremony. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Father Joe Poor Family Program, 1915 Lavers Circle East, # 502, Delray Beach, Florida 33444.

Carmen, it was always a pleasure to meet up with David and yourself at our family reunions. David was a very warm and friendly person. My fond memory of him was his connection to my late husband Frank. David took to him and kidded with him. He will be missed. May he rest in peace.
