David Lawrence Hodge, 80, of Hot Springs, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at his residence.

He was born July 26, 1945, in Bath County, Virginia, the son of the late James Henry Marshall Hodge and Elizabeth Jacobs Hodge.

David was employed as a truck driver for The Omni Homestead Resort Laundry Department.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. David enjoyed hunting, small engine repair, and loving on his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ida Virginia Simmons Hodge; children, Audrey Brown & fiancé Ed Lowry of Warm Springs, Amy Ruckman & husband Blane of Bolar, Virginia, Ronnie Carpenter & special friend Juanita Williams of Hot Springs, Virginia; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews; and a sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Ryder of Hot Springs, Virginia.

David was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Hodge; 2 sisters & brothers-in-law, Ellen Purvis & husband Buddy, Darlene Hise & husband Burley; 2 daughters, Donna Carol Peery & Barbara Lynn Knapp.

A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Saturday October 4, 2025, at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home with Pastor David Clark officiating. Interment will be in Big Valley Cemetery in Bolar, Virginia, at a later date.

The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the services at 2:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Big Valley Cemetery c/o Amy Ruckman, 7197 Big Valley Road, Warm Springs, Virginia 24484.
