David Hugh Horton, age 71, passed away peacefully July 4, 2025, at Medina Valley Health and Rehabilitation in Castroville, TX.
Born December 17, 1953, David was a beloved son, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many. He lived a life defined by hard work, deep love for his family, and a passion for the simple joys in life. A skilled floor installer by trade, David took great pride in his craft and was known for his dedication and strong work ethic.
David had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and loved spending time hunting, fishing, and relaxing at the lake with family. He was also an avid bowler and golfer, always ready for a friendly game and good company.
He is survived by his daughter, Shelly Harvey and her husband Duane; his son, David Horton Jr.; his grandchildren, Dakota Price, Mason Price, Ashtyn Horton, and Carsyn Horton; and his great-grandson, Luca Cooper. He is also survived by his sisters, Cathy Bass, Winnie Wells, and Renaye Wells; his beloved dog, Chico; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family who will miss him dearly.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh Horton and Frances Wells, and his stepfather, C.H. Wells, step-brothers Ron Wells, Ricky Wells
He will be remembered for his quiet strength, generous heart, and the joy he found in life's everyday moments. His legacy of love, laughter, and countless stories will live on in all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be announced by the family at a later date.
