David Ray Hoyer, of Casper, Wyoming, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026, at the age of 66.
David was born on May 8 in Newcastle, Wyoming, to Roy “Dutch” Hoyer and Kathryn (Hart) Thompson.
He joined his older sister, Gloria, and later became a devoted big brother to Kathy. Following in his
father’s footsteps, David built a lifelong career in the oilfield industry, working in California and Alabama
before eventually returning home to Wyoming.
Dave found his greatest joy in the simple pleasures of life—time spent outdoors with friends, fishing on
the lake, riding horses on the ranch, tending his garden, and enjoying the companionship of his beloved
dog. He had an infectious smile, a gentle spirit, and a rare ability to make everyone feel welcome. Dave
truly knew no strangers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy (Dutch) Hoyer and Kathryn (Hart) Thompson. He is
survived by his son, Kyle Hoyer; his sisters, Gloria Thoeny and Kathy (Steve) Lenz; and numerous nieces
and nephews who loved him dearly.
In accordance with David’s wishes, no formal service will be held. The family encourages all who knew
him to honor his memory by holding close the fond moments and cherished memories you shared with
Dave.
