David Walker Hubbard, Sr, born April 16, 1947 in
Richmond, Virginia, passed away on January 28, 2026 leaving behind a beautiful legacy of love, family, and faith.
Dave was preceded in death by his mother and father, Adele and Watkins Hubbard, and daughter Annie Hubbard.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 22 years, Sharon Humphreys, who embraced life, family, friends, and pets with Dave. He is also survived by his beloved children, David Walker Hubbard Jr and partner Ashley LeCroy, Mimi Claugus and husband, Greg Claugus, Jack Hubbard, and stepson, Chris Humphreys, who were each very dear and special to him. Dave was a super proud and doting "Poppa" to two-year-old Lane Claugus, soon to be a big brother. Dave also leaves behind "Marty Cat", his faithful furry companion.
Dave is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Preston & Connie Hubbard, and loved following the lives, families and accomplishments of their three adult children, Kate (Jason), Elizabeth, and Preston Jr. (Courtney), and great nieces and nephews Julia Elizabeth, Nathan Vincent, Adele Nicole, Bryce William and Austin Walker.
After attending college at Davidson, Dave delayed graduate school to serve his country in the United States Army. After his service, he returned to his roots and attended graduate school at the University of Virginia. He enjoyed a long career with Mead Corporation that allowed him to build deep friendships and unexpected travel experiences before moving to and retiring from Riverwood International/Graphic Packaging.
Dave's greatest pride and joy was his family and pets, with friends, country music, golf, fishing, and his alma mater sports intertwined. He could track a family member airplane flight like nobody's business and treasured the simple pleasures in life like a big Sunday breakfast and a good glass of wine on occasion. Dave had a quiet, steadfast faith in Jesus Christ and treated people with respect and kindness. He had a quick wit, loved to tell a good story and battled cancer treatment with inspiring courage.
Dave leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love and unwavering devotion to family and faith.
