David Hughes Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fern Creek Funeral Home - Louisville on Mar. 16, 2026.
David Scott Hughes "KRAZY DAVE," age 60, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at Hosparus on March 11, 2026, after his battle with brain cancer.

He was born on October 25, 1965, in a U.S. military hospital in Nürnberg, Germany.

David is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Debra (Taylor) Hughes; his beloved daughter, Jessica Nincehelser; and his two dear brothers, Robert (Bridgette) Hughes and Donald (Lisa) Hughes.

Krazy Dave would tell you it's with a "K" for the Kentucky Wildcats! He loved nothing more than going to Rupp Arena and cheering on his CATS. It was truly his happy place! Even more importantly, he was krazy about his family and friends. He always had a smile on his face and never missed a chance to give a hug, a kiss, and say "I love you." He was always the life of the party, krazy funny, and never met a stranger. He wore his feelings on his sleeve and would cry at the drop of a hat, but that's why everyone loved him and called him Krazy.

He worked at Walmart for 18 years and later retired from Ford Motor Company's Louisville Assembly Plant (LAP) after 23 years. He loved his work families like they were his own brothers and sisters. He enjoyed bowling, gambling, golfing, cheering for the Minnesota Vikings and the New York Yankees. He grew up at Nolin Lake and graduated from Grayson County High School.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald (U.S. Army) and Gertrude (Reisenberger) Hughes.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 20, 2026, from 3–7 PM and Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 12–3 PM, with a celebration of life beginning at 3 PM at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40291.

In honor of Krazy Dave, please wear his favorite colors, **BLUE & WHITE!!!**
