DR. YUSEF SAYEED

With profound sadness, we honor and remember Yusef Sayeed, MD, MPH, MEng, RMSK, FAIUM, FACOEM-a devoted physician, engineer, educator, and beloved family man whose passing came far too soon. His brilliance was matched only by his kindness, and his life touched countless people in ways both large and small.

Originally trained in electrical engineering, Yusef earned his Master of Engineering before pursuing medicine and public health. Over the course of his career, he became a respected national leader in Occupational Medicine, Interventional Pain Medicine, Musculoskeletal Ultrasound, and medical education. He held key leadership roles across the Veterans Health Administration and the U.S. military health system, guided national committees, and mentored countless students and clinicians.

Yusef was a devoted husband and a deeply loving father, as well as a cherished son, brother, uncle, and nephew. To know him was to love him. His compassion, humor, patience, and wisdom made him someone people immediately trusted and gravitated toward, and his devotion to his family shaped every part of his life.

Though his time with us was far too short, the impact of his life was profound. His legacy endures in the patients he cared for, the professionals he trained, the programs he built, and the many lives he touched simply by being himself.

Yusef is survived by his mother Gurdev, his loving wife Kate, his beautiful daughter Zara, his brothers Iqbal and Siraj, and his nieces and nephews Kabir, Jamal, Jadyn, Josiah, Jahan, Adah, Ruby, Callen, and Briar.

He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in our hearts.
