David W. Hurd, of Lancaster, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Ephraim McDowell Medical Center in Danville. David was born on July 21, 1974, in Lexington, Kentucky, to the late Carolyn Hurd and David Dunaway. David is survived by his loving spouse, Flossie Garland; children, Santana, Seth, D.J., Cruz, Madison, and Chloe; stepdaughters, Sarah (Arlie) Harper and Brittany Thomas; stepson, Tommy; sister Jolene; brothers, Richard, Randall, and Jamie; as well as six grandchildren. He also has one very special granddaughter, Novalee Garland, whom he loved as his own. Additional surviving family members include Barbara (Larry) Walker, of Clinton, TN; special friends, Chris and Michelle Herring; and special friend Bill Ethington. He is preceded in death by one sister, Ana Rankin.

David was a special giving man with a kind heart, always helping others with a smile on his face, or telling something funny. He loved the outdoors, fishing, building things, and music. David chose to be an organ donor, so in death, others will have the Gift of Life.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 – 2:00 PM, Monday, June 2, at Betts & West Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Jason Carter. Serving as pallbearers will be Cruise, D.J., Richard, Randall, Chris, and his good friend Arlie. Sarah Harper will serve as an honorary bearer.

Betts & West is honored to serve David and his family in their time of need. An online guestbook is available at www.BettsAndWestFuneralHome.com
