David B. Jares
David Jares of Millcreek Twp., passed away at the age of 78, after a brief illness on Monday, January 30, 2023. David was born on November 13, 1944, the son of the late Bernard and Elizabeth (Cabaday) Jares.
After graduating from East H.S., David served in the Army stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. In 1977 along with his longtime friend, Bill Lee, David moved to San Francisco, CA where he was employed as a printer at Roller Printing, Inc., retiring in 2006. During his years in San Francisco, David enjoyed entertaining with friends, attending Broadway shows, and baseball games. David was a season ticket holder for the San Francisco Giants.
David was a wonderful son to his mother. For many years until she could no longer travel, he would send her a round trip ticket to San Francisco where she spent months being wined and dined, going to shows, sightseeing, and taking her out to the ballgame. In return, his mom would prepare his favorite home cooked meals. After his retirement, David moved back to his hometown to be close to family.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his baby sister, Bonita, his brother Tom, his nephew Christopher Stark, two nieces; Kelly and Erica Jares, a brother-in-law Gary Smith, and his sister-in-law Wendy Jares.
David will be sadly missed by his family: Susan Stark (Thomas), Jean Smith, Tim Jares (Gail), Mark Jares (Mary), and Scott Jares. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a dear friend Dot Merrit.
His family would like to thank the nurses on 4 South and 4IU at UPMC Hamot for their compassionate care of David.
Honoring his wishes there will be no calling hours. All arrangements were handled by the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Road.
