Julia Oldach Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, LLP - West 38th St. on Mar. 1, 2026.
On February 28, 2026, while at home with her loved ones, Julie slipped from Earth to Heaven, where we know she was welcomed into the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus, with the words: "Well done, my good and faithful servant."

On November 1, 1930, Julia Helen (Rohaly) Oldach was born in Erie, PA, the second child of Michael and Helen Rohaly. She was named after her loving Grandmother, Julia (Baba), but to avoid confusion was always called Julie. Julie spent almost her entire life in Erie, only leaving during the Second World War to live on Army bases when her father was stationed in in Louisiana, then Georgia.

After graduating from Academy High School, Julie entered Hamot Nursing School and worked part time in her parent's corner market. It was in that market one fateful day that Raymond Francis Oldach came in to buy some ice cream. Julie and Ray were married in 1949. As were the rules at that time, you were not allowed to be married and in nursing school, Julie was forced to leave school. She worked for Bell Telephone for a brief time, until she found her favorite job of being a loving mother to their four children.

Being a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish was a major part of her life. She was an active member of the PTA for the school, volunteering in every area she was needed. For many years, she attended mass daily, and taught her children the importance of loving, serving, and worshipping God. When different levels of service opened to lay-people, she was first in line to sign up. She taught Confirmation classes, was honored to be a Eucharistic Minister, and loved being a liturgical reader during mass.

She was widowed in 1970, when Ray suddenly passed away. On the verge of turning forty and being left with three children still at home, Julie was faced with the need to re-enter the workforce. She ran the lunch room at Blessed Sacrament School so she could still be close to Cindy (her one child still in elementary school.) After a couple years she left the lunch room and began working as an Admin in the engineering Department of Lords Corporation. She excelled at her job and continued to work there until when just past the age of seventy, she retired.

Throughout her entire adult life, she was a faithful woman of God, extolling all the virtues of the woman described in Psalm 31. She understood that her true strength came from her total dependence on her Lord Jesus. She was amazing in her ability to care for others, always ready to rush to help meet their needs. Every night when she cooked, she made extra plates to take to elderly neighbors. She lovingly cared for her elderly parents until they passed. And always at the ready to care for her many, many grandchildren.

Julie loved to sing. She was a founding member of the Blessed Sacrament Choir. She continued to sing at Mass until a couple years ago when it became too hard for her to be out. Her children can tell you that she was always singing or humming. Worshipping the Lord in song was a very important part of her life. In addition, during her "spare time" she wrote poems. In 2024, some of her grandchildren gathered a number of them together and published her book titled: Jesus Whispers to Julie In Rhyme.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Ray, her parents, Michael and Helen, four of her siblings, Mary Beer, Theresa Angelotti, Michael Rohaly, and Andrew Rohaly. She is survived by her youngest sister Dr. Suzanne Richard of Erie. She will be greatly missed, but lovingly remembered by her children: Raymond Patrick Oldach II (Ursula) of Nellysford, VA, Kathleen (Cass) McCollum (Jim) of Pittsburgh, Gregory Michael Oldach of Erie, and Cynthia Helen Monacella (Jim) of Erie. She greatly loved her grandchildren: Jennifer, Raymond Jr, Nicholas, Gwen, Daniel, Jeremiah, Amanda, Joshua, Matthew, Adam, Courtney, Jamison, Alyssa, Abby, and Cody, and by her twenty great-grandchildren.
