Richard G. Smith

Richard G. Smith, age 83, of Harborcreek, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 28, 2026. He was born in Erie on April 5, 1942, son of the late Glenn and Esther Smith.

Richard was a graduate of Harbor Creek High School, class of 1960. For most of his years, Richard worked in construction with his brother at Ron Smith and Sons Construction and then David M. Paris Construction prior to his retirement. In the construction industry, his friends endearingly called him "Fred". Richard was very talented and could build and fix anything. He was an outdoorsman, loving to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed bowling and was active with the S.O.N.S. of Lake Erie, where he was a volunteer and director and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. His absolute most important joy in life was his family.

Richard is survived by his daughter, Tambra "Tammy" Stewart (Bill); three brothers, Glenn (Alice), James (Kristin) and Mark Smith; four sisters, Nancy Brown, Kathy Smith, Diane Peelman and Janet Hughes; four grandchildren, John Lucas (Samantha), Emily Maloney, Jason Stewart and Justin Stewart; daughter of the heart, Shari Bronson (Brian) and their family; four great-grandchildren, Cole Richard Maloney, Logan Richard Lucas, Benjamin William Lucas and Margot Elaine Lucas; life-long friend, Alice Vollentine; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine E. Smith; and three brothers, Ronald, Gerald and David Smith.

The family would like to thank the staff at Ball Pavilion for the wonderful care given to Richard and especially his angel, Lou Wiley.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral & Cremation Services Harborcreek, 5151 Buffalo Road (at Hannon Rd. in Harborcreek Twp.) on Tuesday, March 3rd, from 3 to 7 pm and are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service there on Wednesday, March 4th, at 10:30 am.
