Marlyn Jane (Lopus) Barnett, 97 of
Erie, PA, joyfully entered her last home and fell at the feet of Jesus and was greeted by Jake, her true love in their 40 year marriage, on Sunday, February 22, 2026. Marlyn's love for the Lord Jesus Christ surpassed all else in her life and she wanted to share that with everyone that He brought her way. Her door and heart were always open. She was known for her quick wit and ability to always make people laugh.
Marlyn's family moved to Corry in 1936 and was a graduate of Corry High School. Marlyn and Richard Blount married in 1946 and kept trying for a girl and got five very active boys instead. Marlyn married Cleo "Jake" Barnett in 1964. Marlyn and Jake started their very successful in-home Shaklee business in the 1980's. Marlyn continued to run the Shaklee business until 2024.
Marlyn was an avid reader, especially her Bible and very involved in her church, Erie First Assembly. She attended Edinboro University for Art and was creative through quilting (North East Crazy Quilters), drawing, refinishing furniture, painting, and gardening. She had many friends and loved spending time with her sisters, especially after their mother passed away in 1958. She taught her youngest sister, Leslie, how to cook, even though Marlyn claims not to know how to cook... but Jake did.
Marlyn is survived by her four sons, Kim Blount, of Colorado, Hal Blount and wife, Tani, of Ohio, Dru Blount and wife, Rhonda, of
Erie, PA, and Tod Blount, of Boise, ID; stepdaughter, Kay Worthy (Rex), and their children, David and Sharon, of Manchester, NJ; stepson, John Barnett, and his children, Matthew and Martha, of
