Charles Martin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dusckas Funeral Home and Cremations Services, Inc. - Wesleyville on Feb. 26, 2026.
Charles E. Martin, age 93, of Erie, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. He was born in Erie on October 18, 1932, son of the late John and Inez Lillian Finn Martin.

Charles attended Duncon School and Edinboro Grade School. He never had the opportunity to complete high school, but Charles was a self-learned and hardworking man, often holding down two or three jobs to support his family. In 1950, Charles worked at his father's service stations. In 1959, he moved to Erie and worked at Parker's Garage, Mack Truck, Cohen Auto Parts and Hutchison Automotive. Charles dedicated his adult life serving as a volunteer fireman with both Edinboro and Belle Valley Fire Departments. He attended Edinboro Baptist Church, Bethel Baptist Church, where he was saved and baptized, Grace Gospel Chapel and the First United Methodist Church.

Charles is survived by his wife, Bonita S. Martin; three sons, Brian Martin, David Martin (Betty) and John Schley; stepchildren, Matthew and Mark Rea; six grandchildren, Lee Ullom (Max), Andrew Martin (Brittany), John Schley (Jill), Robert Schley, Tonya Schley and David Schley; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Maxine Martin; one daughter, Laura Schley; and four siblings, Lillian Lewendowski, Jack Martin and Clair Martin and Ruth Koman.

Dad's greatest joy in his later years was introducing people to his Savior, Jesus Christ.

Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at Grace Gospel Chapel, 3218 Tuttle Avenue, on Sunday, March 8th at 3 pm. Arrangements are being handled by the Dusckas Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc.
