Sam Seggi Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, LLP - West 38th St. on Feb. 28, 2026.
Sam J. Seggi Jr., age 86, passed away Thursday night, February 26, 2026 surrounded by family. Born on September 1, 1939 in Erie, he was the second of three sons born to Sam J. Seggi, Sr. and Mary (Cala) Seggi.

He graduated from Academy High School in 1957 where he was elected class president, became a loyal member of the marching band and marched in the Rose Bowl Parade of 1955, and met his wife of 41 years, the late Gail (Carson) Seggi.

After high school, he joined the U.S. Army where he attained the rank of sergeant and received many awards and acknowledgements, including the U.S. Army Sharpshooter Qualfication Badge.

Those who knew Sam best remember he lived to work with his hands. As owner of Seggi & Sons Inc., he spent most of his adult life installing storm doors, windows, patio enclosures, and many other home renovations. He loved providing for others, especially when it also meant he could look back on a job well done.

An avid musician, Sam played saxophone and clarinet for over 70 years. He co-founded the Joey Roberts Band in high school and played for several other bands including but not limited to Gem City Jazz Band and Concert Band, Deutschmeister Band of Westfield, NY, Sportsman's Athletic Club Band and the East Erie Turners Band. Years of commitment to the Erie music community paid off again when he met Diana Alvaro, his fiancé of 18 years, at a function hosted by a Patron of the Arts.

Sam was preceded in death by both his parents Sam and Mary Seggi, his wife Gail Seggi, his daughter Sharon (Seggi)

Markewicz, his older brother Guy Seggi and wife Grace (Pizzi) Seggi, and his niece Julie Seggi.

He is survived by his Fiancee Diana Alvaro, his daughter Colleen Seggi, his younger brother Ron Seggi and

wife Claudia (Sawtelle) Seggi, his brother-in-law Craig Carson, nephews Gary Seggi, Scott Seggi, and Christopher Seggi, and niece Christine (Carson) Quinn. He is further survived by his grandsons Roman Mohr and Zachary Markewicz.

Visitation hours at Brugger Funeral Home on 1595 W. 38th St., Erie PA will be from 12-3 P.M. and 5-8 P.M. on Wednesday March 4, 2026.
