David Robert Jarret, Sr., 83, of Westfield, Massachusetts passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 4, 2026.
Born July 11, 1942, to the late Julia and Robert Jarret and raised in Westfield, David graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1966. As a scholar-athlete, he was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity (Massachusetts Alpha chapter) and was a standout player for the UMass Men's Lacrosse team, notably serving as Team Captain for the 1966 season.
Following college, David worked alongside his father, who had established Northside Glass in 1947, and later changed the business name to Westfield Glass Company, Inc. Together, David and his father continued the family business with dedication, hard work, and small business spirit. The company proudly continues today, in its 3rd generation, under the ownership of his son, David Jarret Jr.
An avid outdoorsman, David loved hunting, fishing, and gardening but boating was his true passion and brought him his greatest joy. Known for his ingenuity, he could build, fix, or "MacGyver" just about anything.
David had a zest for life and valued his friendships deeply. From neighbors, fraternity brothers, Kiwanis, local business owners to fellow boaters, his social nature and easy conversation made him a friend to many. These relationships brought him great joy and remained an important part of his life.
David is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Patsy Jarret, and her daughters; Lisa Kelley and husband Brian of Westfield, grandchildren Brianna Barr and husband Jake, and Parker Kelley. Daughter Dawn Kelly and partner Dan Fagan of Russell, grandchildren Katrina and Miranda Piangerelli.
David will be sadly missed by his son, David Jarret Jr. and wife Pam of Westfield, grandson Austin and fiancé Kayla Jordan; his daughter Sharon Ensign and husband Steven of Southwick, grandchildren Gillian, Nicholas, and Brielle Ensign; and daughter Lynne Smith and husband Chip of Westfield, with granddaughters Saige, Emery, and Shaen Smith.
David is also survived by his loving sister Linda Platt of Westfield and 2 nieces, Heather Kober and husband Kris of Westfield and Tiffany Bixby and husband Jim of Granville.
In accordance with his wishes, a private celebration of life will be held in the Spring at St. Mary's Cemetery in Westfield.
David will be remembered for his leadership, craftsmanship, love of the outdoors, and deep devotion to his business, friends and family. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched. Firtionadams.com
