David Johnson of Hyde Park passed in his lifelong home on April 15, 2025 at the age of 59.
Cherished son of the late Robert J. Johnson and Marie T. (O'Driscoll). Devoted brother of Robert J. Johnson and his wife Kerin of Methuen, Marie Giunta and her husband Guy of New Hampshire, Gertrude Dellorco and her husband Robert of Franklin, Laura Briggs and her late husband William of Plymouth, Francis Johnson and his wife Sheilah of Franklin, Diane Landolphi and her husband Mark of Franklin, Richard Johnson and his wife Mary of Foxboro, and Thomas Johnson and his wife Anne Marie of Franklin.
Loving uncle of Guy, Marie, Kathryn, Hannah, Connor, Dan, Patrick, Kelly, Liam, Michaela, Laura, Taylor, Alexander, Robert, Rebecca, Emily, Matthew, Kyle, Caroline, Dylan, and Sydney; and great uncle of Mila, Evie, Thea, Rory, Penelope, Bill, Colin, and Jackson.
David is also survived by his best friend Bill Dunn of Dedham and many cousins, close friends, and his loving dog Gus. He was predeceased by his beloved dog and partner-in-crime, Lola.
A proud lifelong resident of Hyde Park, David also treasured his childhood summers spent in Wareham with family-moments he carried fondly throughout his life. As he got older, summer vacations continued at Whitehorse Beach in Plymouth, where he opened his rental home with generosity and joy, always making space for his nieces and nephews to join him by the ocean.
From his early days, David showed an unshakable work ethic. After earning his GED, he began working at Cool Air, which became the foundation of a long and respected career in facilities management. He ultimately worked his way up to become Chief Engineer with Intercontinental in Boston, taking immense pride in his role and in the building he oversaw at 100 Cambridge Street.
David always knew how to bring the energy to any party. His warmth, humor, and unforgettable presence made every gathering brighter.
Although he didn't have children of his own, he was the cool, constant uncle-always showing up with pride and love. He shared a special bond with his goddaughter Kelly and cared deeply for all of his nieces and nephews.
He was a passionate sports fan who religiously watched the Bruins and Celtics, and he especially cherished golf trips with his best friends and nephew.
David was loyal, stubborn in the best way, and deeply rooted in his beliefs. He stood up for what he thought was right and fiercely loved his family and closest friends.
Visiting hours will be held Monday, April 28
from 4–7 PM at the Carroll-Thomas Funeral Home, 22 Oak Street, Hyde Park. Relatives and friends are invited.
A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be private at the family's request.

So sad every day! I think of Dave every day and wish I had more time with him. I would call him every birthday, see him every day and I will cherish all our dinners out and working together. Loads of Love to the family he loved and would always talk about.

There are so many wonderful things we can say about David. David was a generous man. I hope he understood how much his family
loved him. What stands out for me is hearing one of his aspirations, saying, "I want to be the kind of Uncle that Uncle Buddy was for our family." And then he continued to be the best example of love and generosity to each of them, developing a special relationship with them as they grew into adults. He provided a place for them to stay, either short or long term or just a place to crash. He accepted their help (sometimes) and offered lessons in work ethic and perseverance. I am grateful for the love he shared with each child in this extended family. I am grateful for that. There is no greater legacy for this next generation of Johnsons to carry forward.

Sorry to hear of Davids passing. We were friends growing up as teens playing sports and hanging out on weekends. In later years it was always great to see him and reminisce. A true friend and great guy that will be missed!
