David Lee Justus, Sr., a beloved pillar of the
Hendersonville, North Carolina, went home to be with the Lord at his residence on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on January 19, 1940, in Henderson County, North Carolina, David lived a life marked by service, dedication, and faith.
David found his calling early in life, serving his country with honor and distinction in the United States Air Force for eight years, where he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant before receiving an honorable discharge. His commitment to service continued throughout his career, as he dedicated 30 years to the Henderson County School Bus Garage, ensuring the safe transportation of countless children. Upon his retirement, he left behind a legacy of reliability and care that will be remembered by all who worked alongside him.
A man of deep faith, David was a devoted member of Mud Creek Baptist Church in Hendersonville. He cherished his time with the Good News Sunday School Class, where he shared his wisdom and compassion with fellow parishioners. His faith was a guiding force in his life, providing him strength and joy.
David was preceded in death by his parents, James Hollis Justus and Annie Sue Marlowe Justus; his daughter, Deonna Justus Constant; and his daughter-in-law, Debby Hill Justus. Despite these profound losses, he remained a beacon of strength and love for his family and community.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Doris H. Justus, who stood by his side through every triumph and challenge. He leaves behind a son, David L. Justus, II, and his wife Renee, of
Hendersonville, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Daniel Justus (Tonya), Lee Anderson (Janelle), and Tracey Justus Player (Michael); two great-grandchildren, Maylene Player and Turner Player; and son-in-law, Wade Constant (Olivia). David's love and guidance will continue to resonate in the lives of his family.
A funeral service to honor David's life will be held on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Mud Creek Baptist Church. Pastors Jesse Carr and Ken Howard will officiate the service, celebrating a life well-lived. Interment will follow at Shepherd Memorial Park with military honors provided by the United States Air Force. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects and share memories from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the church before the service.
