David Eli Kanode, son of Kenneth and Doreen (Elsasser) Kanode passed away at his home in Independence, Missouri on December 1, 2023.
He was born February 6, 1954 in Junction City and grew up in the Chapman area, graduating from Chapman High School in 1972. During his school years he was a part of many instrumental and vocal groups including SR Mixed Ensemble directed by Mr. Don Miller.
David held a business degree and worked at several financial institutions. His last employment was twenty years with Sprint in Kansas City.
David enjoyed collecting Mickey Mouse memorabilia, doing word puzzles, and spending time doing genealogy research.
He is preceded in death by his father Kenneth "Kenny" Kanode and grandparents. He is survived by his mother Doreen Kanode of Chapman, sisters Janice Gliniecki of Colorado, Karen Hendrix of Chapman, one nephew, two nieces, one great nephew, and three great nieces and several cousins.
Memorial services for David will be 11:00 am Saturday, December 16, 2023 at the Londeen-Overlease Funeral Chapel with Pastor Doug Brown officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am – service time at the funeral home. His final resting place will be in the Athelstane Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chapman Musical Department and may be sent in care of the Londeen-Overlease Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 411, Chapman, Kansas 67431.
