The funeral service for David Karbo, 73, of Russell, will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Grace First Parish in Russell, MN. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 2, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with prayers at 8:00 p.m. at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Marshall. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. at the church in Russell. Interment will follow the service at the Russell Cemetery.
David Allen Karbo was born on February 22, 1951, in Marshall, MN, to Robert and Phyllis (Smedsrud) Karbo. He was baptized and confirmed at the Grace Lutheran Church in Russell. David graduated from Tyler High School with the class of 1969. He then attended the Canby Vocational School. On October 9, 1976, he was united in marriage to Ronda Mickelson. The couple farmed and raised their family on the Karbo home family farm in Russell. David was passionate about farming. They grew crops and raised hogs. He enjoyed spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren's events. David was a member of the Coon Creek Township Board of Directors and the Grace Lutheran Church Council.
David died unexpectedly on Friday, June 28, 2024, at the Avera Tyler Hospital in Tyler, MN. He is survived by his wife, Ronda, of Russell, children Melissa (and Erik) Wells of Russell, Shawna (Kyle) Thooft of Tyler, Adam (Amy) Karbo of Ghent: grandchildren Collin and Madison Wells, Taylin, Keaton and Gracyn Thooft:, Colbey Denson; siblings Larry (Gail) Karbo of Sioux Falls, Roberta Karbo of Sioux Falls, Sandi (Neal) Nelson of Barrett, MN, Daniel (Linda) Karbo of Alexandria, brother-in-law Craig Skuya of Sioux Falls, SD, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Vicki Skuya.
