David Michael Kopp passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, March 4, 2024, at the age of 75.
Born to Jerome and Shirley (nee Koenig) Kopp on November 28, 1948, in Milwaukee. Loving husband of Kathleen (nee Bluhm), married October 14, 1978. Beloved father of Julia (Tim) VanOudenhoven, Chris Kopp, Alli Kopp, and Becca (Scott) Papa, and CJ Kopp. “Papa Dave” to Ezra and Arie VanOudenhoven.
Cherished brother of Rob (Kim) and Karen. Also loved by nieces, nephews, other family members and friends, many of whom endearingly called him “Mr. K.”
After graduating from John Marshall High School, Dave went on to receive his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from UW-Milwaukee. Dave’s career as a City Planner for the City of Waukesha was a source of pride. Through his dedication and work within the Waukesha Landmarks Commission, Dave helped to preserve the city he was deeply passionate about.
Outside of work, Dave spent his time rooting for the Packers, Badgers & Bucks, photographing the people & places he loved, maintaining the house that provided love & shelter for seven, and keeping that house stocked with food to feed the masses.
In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Waukesha County Historical Society & Museum, https://www.waukeshacountymuseum.org/giving/, or the Alzheimer’s Association - Wisconsin Chapter, https://www.alz.org/wi/donate, are appreciated.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Memorial Mass at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 2400 West State Road 59, Waukesha, Wisconsin 53189. Lunch will follow at the Frame Park Rotary Building, 1150 Baxter Street, Waukesha, Wisconsin 53186.
