David Kuzio Obituary

David Michael Kuzio

March 19, 1991 - February 2, 2024

Easton, Maryland - David Michael Kuzio, 32, of Easton, Maryland, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2024, due to an automobile accident in Easton. Born on March 19, 1991, in Bellefonte, was the beloved son of William and Barbara (Agnone) Kuzio, who are both surviving at home in Bellefonte.

David was a 2009 graduate of Bellefonte Area High School. Since graduation, he studied diligently and became a professional culinary chef extraordinaire and enjoyed developing new cuisines. Over the recent years, he made his way to Maryland to pursue his love of culinary arts. He was currently employed with the BluePoint Hospitality Group in Easton. Working in Easton gave him the freedom to be creative and explore numerous opportunities to showcase his work to culinary icons. One of the highlights of his time there was getting to work alongside his friend and head chef, David Kneller; they were able to serve a meal to the world-renowned chef, Jose Andres, who left extremely impressed with not only the menu that they created, but also the quality of the meal that they presented to Chef Andres.

He leaves behind his loving parents, William "Bill" and Barbara Kuzio, many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Also surviving is his longtime girlfriend, Melissa Interdonota, also of Easton, Maryland.

David was an avid lover of the outdoors. He enjoyed sports, kayaking, snowboarding, and target shooting. Over the years he was fortunate enough to forge many friendships and made sure to stay connected with his friends, celebrating their wins in life as they did for him. In 2015, he took his motorcycle on an off-road trip over the TransAmerican Trail with his best friend Dylan. He loved his family and cousins, and enjoyed spending time with them when he was able. David was a ball of energy – always positive and excited to be around others. He brought infinite light and love for life into any room and was well beyond his time.

There will be a public viewing held on Thursday, February 8, 2024, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will begin at noon, at the funeral home. Burial will directly follow at Zion Cemetery, Walker Township.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to PETS Come First, 2451 General Potter Highway, Centre Hall, PA 16828.

I was so saddened to hear about David. He was a great childhood friend and classmate. Anytime I ran into him after high school he always took time to talk to me with enthusiasm, genuineness, and kindness. I'll never forget the days we ran around Springfield Development together as kids and the light he brought into this world. Prayers for his friends and family during this difficult time.

I was so saddened to hear about David´s passing. I deliver to the different Bluepoint Hospitality restaurants and businesses and would frequently see David cooking when I delivered through the back of the restaurant. He was always so unbelievably nice to me, always. I would ask what are you cooking up today and he would always take the time to explain. He was just so nice! I shared with him some of my home canning I had done over the summer and he was so excited to try everything. He always had a big smile and wonderful energy. Deliveries will not be the same. I will truly miss him.

I had the privilege of being David´s cousin, friend, and even co-worker at the Diving Horse in NJ. Dave was somebody I was proud to have in my life and somebody I wanted everyone I knew to meet. He just had good vibes, endless good vibes. I wanted to share a memory that is dear to me, and one I will keep with me for eternity.
Back in 2017 Dave was passing through Philadelphia on his motorcycle and decided to make a detour to visit my sister Kristina, he now husband Mark and I at her condo in Philly where we lived together. Not sure his original intention other than a visit to say hello but we got to talking, and it became clear that David wanted the opportunity to cook better food and gain more experience cooking with seasoned professionals. I am laughing right now; remembering him telling me "I am sick of cooking burgers".
I was fortunate enough to know Steve Eckard was building a crew for the Diving Horse restaurant in Avalon, NJ at the beach for the summer. My sister and I told Dave he could stay in Philly with us and I would introduce him to some people that would help him out. That night we went to Pub and Kitchen in Philadelphia PA, to meet with the Head Chef and future mentor of Dave´s. What a night it was; we walked into Pub and Kitchens entrance and were greeted at the hostess stand by Missy the love of his life. Years later Dave later told me he fell in love with Missy at first sight. After many introductions to the restaurant crew, a full dinner and drinks, Steve & Missy walked over to our table and asked him to join them in Avalon, NJ to work at the Diving house for the summer. I vividly remember him looking across the table to me in confusion, like are these people for real. I just nodded my head. The only question Dave asked was to Missy, "are you going too?" she said yes, and that was all Dave needed to hear he was going. Dave never looked back. He moved to Philly with nothing but a motorcycle and the clothing in his backpack. Dave was an opportunist; he would try anything once. Boe, a good friend of his just texted and said, "Dave was one of the most fearless people I will ever meet, the most genuinely positive human being to work with and be around" and he really was.
Dave you will be missed by so many, Love you man.

Dave was one of my favorite people. He was a dear friend of our son, Ethan, and quickly became a family friend during his visits to our farm in Colorado. He was the friend that a parent is so grateful their kid has. He and I connected over our mutual love of cooking - swapping recipes and techniques, and dreaming about doing a farm-to-table dinner on our property. I am forever grateful to him for coming out to Colorado to be there for Ethan after our younger son died. My heart aches to know those visits are over, and for his parents and everyone who loves him. He had so much left to offer the world.

When I first met Kuzio, I had this innate feeling that he was a special person. He had sort of an aura around him, projecting feelings of comfort and happiness. He always had a smile on his face, always had kind things to say, and always had time to listen and offer sound advice. I got to know Kuzio through work, and it was clear that he positively influenced everyone in the restaurant. He taught me so much about food and he helped reignite my passion for cooking. He made me laugh and smile countless times. I will always remember Kuzio as a talented and hard working chef, a kind and caring friend, and a genuinely good man. Sending my love and thoughts to Kuzio´s family.

David was a coworker and friend of mine here in Easton. I always looked forward to seeing him, and he always had a friendly smile and word for me each day. We often called him, affectionately, just "Kuzi." Sending all of my love and condolences to his family during this unimaginable time. I only wish I had gotten to know him better; he was such a kind, sweet soul, and was gone far too soon.
