David Ladenburger Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Northern Colorado Crematory on Dec. 29, 2025.
In the grand tapestry of life, there are few threads as vibrant and colorful as that of David Lee Ladenburger, who departed this world just one day shy of his 62nd birthday. Born in the quaint town of Cheyenne Wells, Colorado, to Maurice "Laddy" Ladenburger and Agnes (Muehlenkamp) Krause, David lived a life marked by kindness, creativity, and a dash of wit-much like the stained glass he loved to create.

A proud veteran, David took on the mantle of service early, dedicating 11 years of his life to the Army National Guard. But what he really wanted was to mow the lawn at the local golf course-after all, who wouldn't want a job where you can enjoy the outdoors and make things look good while you're at it? He worked at various jobs throughout his life, but it was his dreams that left the biggest impact, not just on him but on all who knew him.

David was a compassionate husband to Jeanette (Gesick) Ladenburger and a beloved stepfather to Dwain, David, and James Speaker. His legacy also extends to five step-grandchildren. Though he is preceded in death by his father and sister Marla Thompson, his spirit lives on in his mother Agnes, siblings Jerry, Jeff, Tina, and Carla, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

David was not just a remarkable husband; he was a steadfast friend. His loyalty knew no bounds, and he made every laugh a shared one, whether through his charm or his often self-deprecating humor. He was the guy who would turn a mundane moment into a memory worth cherishing, always ready with a quip to lighten the mood.

When he wasn't busy making the world a kinder place, David indulged his creative side. He found immense joy in woodworking and crafting beautiful stained glass, which he poured himself into with a zeal that could make even a grumpy old tree smile. In recent times, he took on the role of proud dog dad; his trusty companion Mishka was recently certified as a therapy dog, and together, they were beginning a journey of bringing smiles and joy to those in need at NCMC and the Windsor library. Nothing filled David with more pride than this.

As we gather to celebrate the life of this kind-hearted soul, we invite you to join us for a celebration of life in late spring 2026-time for stories, laughter, and reflection on the man who always knew how to make things look a little brighter.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider making a donation to your favorite charity in memory of David, a gesture that would certainly appeal to his generous spirit.

As we bid farewell to David, let's honor him by embracing our neighbors a little more warmly, laughing a little more deeply, and above all, living with the integrity and kindness he showed us every day. Rest easy, David; you will be missed dearly.

Davey(as my dad always called him) was a wonderful man. I only met him a couple of times but he was always smiling even through the hardest times the last month. He was a great friend to my dad as well and greatly appreciated for his kindness and help. He will be missed dearly. R.I.P Davey
