Hancock David M. Lahti, 42, a resident of Hancock, passed away suddenly Sunday May 13, 2007. He was born on April 15, 1965, in Hancock a son of Bruce and Carol (Sleeman) Lahti. As a child Dave attended and graduated from Hancock Schools with the Class of 1983. He graduated from Michigan Technological University in 1989 as a Civil Engineer, with honors. On November 8, 1985, he was united in marriage to the former Paula Jaehnig. Dave worked for Dow Chemical Company for 16 years as a Project Manager, first in Midland, MI, then Katy, TX, and Lake Jackson, TX. For the past 2 years he has made his home in Hancock. Dave enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, photography, cooking, stamp & coin collecting, restoring cars, reading, riding motorcycles and traveling internationally. Surviving are: His wife Paula of Hancock His children: Alex Lahti of Houston, TX Jane Lahti of Hancock, MI Carolyn Lahti of Hancock, MI His parents: Bruce & Carol Lahti of Hancock Brothers: Brian (Terri Gilpin) Lahti of Rabbit Bay James (Margaret) Lahti of Hancock Sister: Cheryl Harter of Hancock Uncle: Michael (Sharon) Lahti of Hancock Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call on Thursday May 17, 2007, in the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock from 4 to 8 p.m.. Private burial will take place in the Forest Hill Cemetery of Houghton at a later time. In lieu of flowers or other expressions of sympathy the family suggests that memorials may be given to the Hancock Public School Foundation 417 Quincy St., Hancock, MI 49930, in memory of David Lahti.
