David Lambert Obituary

LAMBERT, Jr., David Marsh

May 15, 1953 - May 12, 2023

Born in High Point, N.C. to the late David Marsh Lambert, Sr. and Sarah Shaw Lambert, David died in the quiet, early hours of the morning, his favorite time of day.

David grew up in Greenville, S.C. and graduated from J.L. Mann High School before attending North Carolina State University's School of Architecture. While at North Carolina State, David was a member of the Kappa Alpha fraternity, a source of friendships that lasted for over fifty years. More importantly, it was where he met his wife, Kaye. They were to celebrate their 44th anniversary on May 26th and felt they were among the luckiest people on earth.

In 1989, David founded Lambert Architecture plus Interiors. He grew it from a one-man firm in his sister-in-law's basement into a significant regional firm over the course of 25 years.

David was a timeless Southern gentleman with a deep love for his family. With his young grandchildren, David enjoyed building creations with his grandson Ransome, doing puzzles and art with his granddaughter Fletcher, and coaching his granddaughter Harriss to say "Boppa" as one of her first words. David had a great enjoyment for the outdoors (especially the National Parks), a good cup of coffee, a glass of red wine, and cars of all makes and models.

Other than being with his family, his favorite activity for many years was as a high-performance driver's education instructor and track driver. He enjoyed his circle of racetrack friends and included his sons whenever possible.

His family will remember him for his grace, intelligence, strength, and the impeccable quality of his character.

David is survived by his wife, Kaye Pass Lambert, sons David Marsh Lambert III "Trey" (Kate) and John Pass Lambert (Ellen), and grandchildren: Ransome, Fletcher and Harriss Lambert. Also surviving is his sister, Tina Thomas, and sisters-in-law Leigh Pass Rowe (Tom Kerns) and Johnsie Pass Mason (Bruce), as well as many nieces and nephews.

He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered.

A celebration of his life will be held Sunday, May 21, 2023, at Centenary United Methodist Church 646 West Fifth Street Winston-Salem, NC 27101 at 2:00 p.m. followed by reception and visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina 3330 Shorefair Drive, Winston-Salem, NC 27105, https://www.secondharvestnwnc.org/ or to a charity of one's choice.

What a great friend. We spent many a weekend at the racetrack and sharing a room at Car Guys and PCA drivers education events. We grew to know his family. I miss him and his family. Rest in Peace, David.

It was always a pleasure to see David at the race track and share track experiences with him. We met at Protech Motorsports at the beginning of our drivers ed journey a long time ago.
He was truly a great man and friend who will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
