David Leavitt Obituary

OLEAN - David W. Leavitt, of 220 Brookview Ave., passed away Wednesday (June 2, 2021) at Olean General Hospital, shortly after arrival following an apparent heart attack.

David was born Oct. 26, 1959, in Holyoke, Mass., and was a son of Dennis and Geraldine Enman Leavitt.

David grew up in a military family. They traveled through the Middle East and ended up in Niagara Falls.

He worked construction before moving to Olean when he was 29 in 1988. David owned his own repair shop, Leavitt's Auto, both in Olean and then in Hinsdale, until he became disabled.

David enjoyed going fishing, four wheeling, riding his motorcycle and going to car shows. He was very much a family man, always putting his family first, and was known as being the "Captain of his Ship." David loved his family and spending time with them and on family outings and gatherings.

David is survived by his loving fiancé, Tammy L. Kranock of Olean; six children, David W. Leavitt II, Danielle Hogg, DeAnna Judware, Nicholas Leavitt, Jessica Leavitt and Alyssa Kranock; 10 grandchildren, David III, Dillan, Symphony, Serenity, Savannah, Andrew, Cyrus, Ava, Sophia and Asher; and two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Addison.

Friends will be received from 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday (June 9, 2021) at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean, at which time a time of sharing will be held.
