Elmwood Funeral Home & Memorial ParkIDavid Wayne Loftis, lovingly known as Uncle Dave, of Breckenridge passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at the age of 69. A graveside service will be 10:00 AM Thursday, February 26, 2026 in Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 Hwy 277 South.
David was born January 5, 1957 in Graham, Texas to Jeff and Pearl Loftis. David grew up in Breckenridge and attended Breckenridge High School before he moved to Abilene and became a long-time diesel mechanic of John Deere Tractors before he retired from YellowHouse in 2022. David married DeeAnna Whisenhunt on July 3, 1989. Before her death, David and DeeAnna loved to travel with their dogs and camp in their travel trailer around west Texas.
Upon his retirement, David loved to tinker on old lawn mowers and repaired many in his community for friends and neighbors.
David was preceded in death by his wife DeeAnna Loftis, his parents Jeff and Pearl Loftis, sister Mary Loftis (Curtis), brother Danny Loftis and stepson Paul Whisenhunt.
He is survived by his brother-in-law Lee Crawford of Arlington, nephews James Curtis and Chris Curtis of Breckenridge, nieces Jeannie Karl of Abilene, Cara Tinker and Amy Cortez of Breckenridge. He is also survived by numerous great-nephews, great-nieces and 3 great-great nephews.
