David Lyle Loomis, beloved father, grandfather, son, brother, and partner, passed away peacefully at his home on January 16, 2025, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. Born on July 19, 1967, David's 57 years were marked by love, laughter, and an unwavering dedication to his family.
David was the proud and devoted father of two daughters, Alex Rateliff and Nichols Loomis. His greatest joy came in his role as a grandfather to his cherished grandson, Philip Rateliff, who at just 8 months old brought immense light and happiness to David's life.
David's love and legacy live on through his parents, Pat and Bill Loomis, his stepmother, Edna Loomis, and his siblings. His older brother, Scott Loomis, along with sister-in-law Bridget Loomis, and their family-including niece Megan Cullum, her husband Scott Cullum, and daughter Jaydin Hill, David's great niece. He is also survived by his younger brother, Mark Loomis, as well as niece Sydney Loomis and nephew Connor Loomis.
Above all, David shared a profound and enduring love with the love of his life, Sarah Sidor. Their partnership was a testament to the beauty of true companionship and the strength of enduring bonds.
David's life was like a box of chocolates, never knowing what we were going to get! Despite his sometimes relaxed and light-hearted approach to life's challenges, he had an uncanny ability to charm his way through the toughest situations, often leaving everyone wondering how he made it look so easy. His light-heartedness and humor reminded us all that life doesn't have to be so serious.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in David's memory to organizations supporting cancer research or family caregiving services.
David Lyle Loomis will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His love, strength, and spirit will remain with us always.
