Pittsfield – David Madsen, 75, of Pittsfield, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 2, 2025 at his residence.
He was born in Tewksbury, MA, son of the late Florence Lowther. David attended the local schools and then began his military career, first with the US Army then US Air Force before closing out his career in the Coast Guard, a period he truly found what he loved receiving honorable discharge from every branch. He often recalled some of his most memorable moments where he was honored to assist like the 1989 Cypress Freeway Collapse in Oakland, CA.
David was a work-a-holic, he ran his own concrete business for many years, he lived to work and loved what he did. In his younger years as recalled by his brother Jon, they enjoyed baseball, golf, fishing, camping and riding bikes. David hitchhiked from time to time traveling all over the world, he wanted to see it all.
He is survived by his sons, Jonathan Madsen and Christopher Madsen, brothers, Jon Mills, Chris Mills, Ben Mills and Brian Thomas, grandchildren, David, Darren, Tyler, Carson, Conrad, Gracie and Daniel as well as numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025 at 12 Noon at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen. The Roan Family Funeral Home – Still Oaks Chapel in Epsom is assisting the family with arrangements. To share a memory or offer a condolence please visit www.roanfamilyfuneral.com
