David Matinez, age 76, died on January 3, 2026, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born on November 30, 1949, in Paonia, Colorado to Joe T Martinez and Maria Flora Montoya
He married Lynne Knowlden Martinez on April 6, 1992.
David loved fishing, the outdoors and watching old westerns. He enjoyed helping people and working according to his skills. He volunteered with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and especially loved managing the produce at the Bishop’s Storehouse. He had many jobs throughout his life, including working at a kennel and dishwashing. He often went the extra mile and cleaned out the equipment to a high standard. Although disabled, he lived fully and had a rich life. He was especially happy to be sealed to his wife in the Salt Lake Temple and enjoyed his testimony of Christ and membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He is Survived by his wife, Lynne Martinez, Brothers Richard (Maggie), Virgil Matinez (Laurie), Steven Martinez (Lena), and Sisters: Grace Martinez and Donna Ramos and many nieces, nephews and their children.
He is Preceded in death by Parents, Brothers: Alfred and Joe T. Jr., Sisters: Cookie Martinez and Betty June Gregory.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 14 at 11:00 with a viewing at 10:00 AM, at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah 84084.
Interment will be at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah 84084
