David Matlock, 69, of Owensboro, died Sunday, February 27, 2011, at his home. He was born October 19, 1941 to the late Eugene and Eva Farmer Matlock in Daviess County. He had worked at Whirlpool and was a kind, giving, selfless, loving husband and father who had always been his family's rock. Mr. Matlock was a member of First Free Will Baptist and had served in the Army for six years. He was a Bluegrass volunteer, enjoyed scooter riding, and his greatest hobby was his family. Many thanks to his Swedish Match family who called him "Daddy David", he truly loved them all. Special mention to his faithful caregivers who were so loving - brother-in-law, Ray Drewry and grandson, Jake Simmons.

He was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Madalynn Matlock, and his father-in-law, Filmore Aubrey.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Marilyn Matlock; his children, David Alan Matlock of Owensboro, and Sheri (Kevin) Rue of Gentryville; five grandchildren, Dusti Simmons, Jacob Simmons, Taylor Rue, Derrick Rue, and Scott Evans; his brothers and sisters, Judy Kasinger, Larry (Debbi) Matlock, Sue Garrett, Patsy (Keith) Brumley, Eva (David) Payne, Robert (Pat) Matlock, Mark (Diane) Matlock, Alice (David) Douglas, all of Owensboro, Rick (Nancy) Matlock of Hammond, IN, Janice Matlock of Henderson, KY; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ray and Jean Drewry, Tencie Estes, Byron and Gail Aubrey, and Steve and Darlene Conder; his mother-in-law, Eartha Aubrey, all of Owensboro; and special son-in-law, Scott Simmons.

Services will be Noon on Wednesday, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until Noon on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Western Kentucky.
