He was born September 6, 1938 in Pike County, Indiana to the late Noble and Nora (McCrary) Matteson.
Dave served two years in United States Army and was stationed in Korea. After returning he worked at McCord Corporation until the plant closed. He will be honored at the graveside by the American Legion.

He hauled livestock for them to market. Dave had a passion for country music. He was a member of the band "Sundown" and was a singer and played bass guitar. The band was very popular around the area and played at several clubs and entertained at the Turkey Trot.
Dave's main passion was Appaloosa horses, where he made it a profession and a lifetime business of raising and breeding horses. His business was known around the nation.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Noble and Nora Matteson; sister, Barb Charles; nephew, Kevin Charles.
Dave is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carol Matteson of Washington; sisters, Dorothy Grannan, Sue (Dave) Gingerich, both of Washington; brothers, Joe Matteson and Marty Matteson, both of Washington; and many nieces and nephews. Dave and Carol had no children but claimed Adam (Holly) Robinson and Jordan (Emma) Robinson as their adopted family.
He will be missed by his family and friends. The family would like to thank Helping Hearts Hospice for the exceptional care during his last days.
