David Maus Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Harder Funeral Home - Brookfield on Nov. 30, 2023.
David L Maus, age 74, of Brookfield, WI, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Care-Age of Brookfield in WI. He was born on January 19, 1949, in Beaver Dam, WI, only son of Elmer and Ruth (Horgan) Maus.
On June 5, 1971, Dave married Susan Glisch at Covenant Lutheran Church in Milwaukee, WI. Shortly after, he graduated with a degree in accounting from the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater. He began working at Cutler Hammer, which was later acquired by Eaton Corporation, received his CPA from the State of Wisconsin, and retired after a 35 year career. His job took him and his family to Asheville, North Carolina where he was able to live in the Smoky Mountains for 4 years before returning to Wisconsin.
Dave was a family man. He coached his kid's sports teams, was active in the Boy Scouts of America, and supported his kid's activities in many other ways. He was passionate about the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, cross country skiing, and downhill skiing (especially in Colorado and Michigan). He and Sue loved to travel, spending their 50th anniversary in Paris and going to Punta Cana many winters. Dave's love for lake life started as a child growing up on Beaver Dam Lake. In retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends boating, skiing, swimming, skating, and fishing at his beautiful cottage on Emma Lake in Rhinelander, WI.
Dave leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Susan Maus; his children, Ryan (Anna) Maus of Delaware, OH; Rachel (Tim) Bloomquist of Shoreview, MN; and Andy (Stef) Maus of Menomonee Falls, WI; 7 grandchildren, Evan and Aaron Maus, Ben and Sam Bloomquist, and Lily, Drew and Ayden Maus.
A Funeral Service for David L. Maus will be held on Saturday December 2, 2023, at 11AM at UNITY Lutheran Church – Christ the King Campus, 4600 Pilgrim Road, in Brookfield, WI. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30AM until time of Service at 11AM. David will be laid to rest following the service in the Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield, WI.
Memorial contributions can be made to Unity Lutheran Church or the Wisconsin Parkinson Association.

Hello. I am sorry to hear of Dave passing. I would like for your family to know that Dave was a very respected person at Cutler Hammer. I worked with Dave for Cutler Hammer for many years (as was plant accountant and Controller in Lincoln Illinois).

Dave was top notch and fun to work with. He had a very keen and dry sense of humor. He sometimes could be a little intimidating until you realized he was just digging at you over something.

He knew the business very well and understood how a manufacturing plant worked. Always welcomed at the Lincoln Plant because he helped and did not hinder!

I actually replaced Dave in Asheville when he moved back to Milwaukee in 1985 I believe. Dave worked with for Plant Controller Mr. John Gilbart as the Accounting Supervisor. They were noted for building a very efficient and automated reporting system - in my opinion the best I had ever seen in CH-Eaton. I learned a lot from it and replicated many of the concepts at other plants and other companies I worked for over my career.

Please pass on my condolences to your family and know that your feelings and memories are shared by many others.
