Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - St. PetersDavid Michael McClory, born on November 26, 1947, entered eternal rest on August 13, 2025. He lived a life marked by dedication, camaraderie, and a profound connection to those around him.
A proud veteran, David served in both the Marines and the Army, making notable contributions as a cook during the Vietnam War. He achieved the rank of Sergeant First-Class in the Army and retired after years of honorable service, reflecting a deep commitment to his country that shaped his character and values.
David's warm spirit extended beyond his military service into his personal hobbies and interests. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, spending peaceful afternoons fishing at the neighborhood lake. He cherished the quiet moments of relaxation, often indulging in what he affectionately referred to as "Wink and Blink" naps. His love for puttering around in his yard showcased his hands-on approach to life, and he took immense pride in building his shed—a testament to his dedication and craftsmanship. He was known for his engaging personality, often greeting friends and acquaintances with the familiar phrase, "What's to tell?" This simple greeting encapsulated his genuine interest in the lives of those around him. Additionally, David had a fond appreciation for buttermilk and was deeply engaged in his community through bible studies, where he fostered friendships and bolstered his faith.
David is survived by his beloved wife of almost 54 years, Helen McClory; devoted son, Kevin (Wendy) McClory; and his cherished brother, Robert "Bobby" (Sandy) McClory. His legacy continues through his two grandchildren, Brendan and Alyssa, who will carry forward the love and lessons he imparted. He leaves behind a host of family members and friends who will remember him fondly and with respect.
David was preceded in death by his father, John Anthony McClory; mother, Dorothy Ilene McClory; and brother, Jack McClory. His spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who were privileged to know and love him.
