David Newton McConnell II

David Newton McConnell, II, age 57, and a resident of New Braunfels, passed away at his home on Tuesday afternoon, March 10, 2026. Newton, as he was known by all, was born on January 7, 1969, in Austin to the late David McConnell, Sr. and Pamela Landen McConnell.

A lifelong resident of Canyon Lake, Newton loved being a part of the community and spent time coaching Little League baseball and other youth sports with his son. He was proud to cheer on the Hawks and all the kids he had the pleasure of coaching as they played in the local school games.

His love of sports was only eclipsed by his love of music. He was a walking encyclopedia of every genre of music under the sun.

He gave generously to everyone in need around him and would not hesitate to help out whenever asked.

He made friends wherever he went and made a lasting impression on those who knew him.

During his professional career, Newton was employed by the US Postal Service as a letter carrier and cherished the relationships he built with the people on his mail route.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Pamela McConnell. Survivors include his loving wife of 25 years, Janice "JC" McConnell; son, Marshall McConnell; sister, Julie Moroney; brother, John McConnell and wife, Barbara; sister-in-law, RaChele Montgomery and husband, Mark, and nieces: Jessi Bostad, Margaret Fontenot and Mattie Montgomery.

The funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 20, 2026, at First Baptist Church of Canyon Lake. A reception will be held immediately following the funeral service in the church hall. Interment services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Society or to the charity of one's choice.
