David McConoughey Obituary

David Anthony McConoughey

Mar 28, 1978 - Aug 1, 2025

Avon

David Anthony McConoughey, 47, passed away peacefully Friday, August 1, 2025, after a courageous battle with colorectal cancer.

Born in Chillicothe, March 28, 1978, David was raised in Milan, Ohio and went on to graduate from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. He then received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. Affectionately known as "Dr. Dave" by many, he worked over 15 years at St. John's Medical Center in Westlake, in Emergency Medicine and then went on to lead the Intensive Care Unit. He was a respected and loved member of the St. John's team, known for his dedication to his patients, their families, and his coworkers. He valued the friendships he developed with his coworkers over the years, leading to lifelong memories. David had a generous heart and helped others whenever he could.

David loved golfing, traveling, sports, and spending time with family and friends, often while enjoying good food. He enjoyed visiting Disney World, running marathons, and having dry-aged ribeyes with a nice glass of red wine. Sharing meals with family and friends was always a priority for David. He was an avid OSU fan, a Cavs season ticket holder, and an active member of Journey Church in Avon.

David's kind soul and generosity will be remembered by all who were blessed to be a part of his amazing life. Beloved son of Ed & Marianne (Kasunic) McConoughey of Milan, Ohio; brothers, Stephen (Cara Huff) of Woodstock, Georgia and Jeremy (Tori Conley) of LaGrange; proud Uncle D to Eli and Sam McConoughey and dearest friend to many!

In lieu of flowers and gifts, and to keep David's memory moving forward, please consider a gift in memory of David to Hospice of the Western Reserve https://www.hospicewr.org/Give or University Hospital (UH) - Colon Cancer Research Fund (20117).
