David Marshall McCulloch, age 80, of Pelican Rapids, MN, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Ecumen Memory Care Cottage in Detroit Lakes, MN with his loving family by his side.
David was born in Fargo, ND, on August 7, 1943, to Royal (“Mac”) and Alice (Piper) McCulloch. He was baptized and confirmed at First United Methodist Church, Fargo, ND.
David was a 1961 graduate of Fargo Central High School and a 1965 Electrical Technology graduate of North Dakota State College of Science, Wahpeton, ND. After a brief internship in Marshalltown, IA, he was employed with Westinghouse Electric Corporation, Electric Service Division (now Siemens Corporation), Chicago, IL. There he served in varying positions as a commercial electrical technician over the next 37 years, retiring in 2002.
David married Claudia Braseth at Olivet Lutheran Church, Fargo, on August 23, 1967. They resided in Lombard, IL, where their son, Kevin was born in 1970. After retirement they moved to their current home on Lake Lizzie at Dunvilla, Pelican Rapids, MN. There he enjoyed many years of pontooning, snorkeling, biking, birding, and relaxation. His beloved grandchildren and family brought him much happiness and joy. In retirement Dave and Claudia spent several winters in Santa Cruz, CA, where they found new friendships and excitement in travels. As we mourn the loss of Dave, we take solace in the memories we shared.
David was a member of Zion Lutheran Church on Franklin Lake, Pelican Rapids, MN.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Mac and Alice McCulloch, his brother-in-law, Burt Elstad, his in-laws, Bill and Bernice Braseth, and his sister-in-law, Bonnie Jones.
He is survived by his wife, Claudia, Pelican Rapids, MN; son, Kevin (Melissa), Savage, MN; grandchildren: Matthew and Leah, Savage, MN; sister, Kathryn Elstad, Fargo, ND; sister-in-law, Jeanette (Peter) Granger, Detroit Lakes, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials preferred to Zion Lutheran Church, Hospice of the Red River Valley, and charity of choice.
Visitation: Saturday, October 28, 2023, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church on Franklin Lake near Pelican Rapids, MN.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Zion Lutheran Church on Franklin Lake near Pelican Rapids, MN with Pastor Anna Monke-Gervais officiating.
Interment: Zion Columbarium, rural Pelican Rapids, Minnesota
