David Sather, age 62 of Pelican Rapids, MN, passed away peacefully in his home on February 1, 2026.
David was born on December 23, 1963; the fourth of five children to Kenneth and Donna Mae Sather. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and a deeply kind-hearted, gentle soul whose presence made people feel welcome and at ease.
David married Jennifer Lynnes on April 26, 1997, and together they built a life centered on love, laughter, and family. They lived in the Twin Cities for 20 years, where they raised their two children and created countless memories that will be cherished forever. They moved back to their hometown of Pelican Rapids in 2015.
Dave graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1982 and went on to attend Wadena Vocational Technical College, where he studied Electronics. Following his education, he lived in California for a few years before returning to Minnesota, where he remained close to family and the life he loved. Throughout his career, Dave worked in the technology field for several companies, including Gould Electronics, Boeing, L-1 Identity Solutions, and West Central Turkey’s. Most recently, he was employed by JLL Incorporated in Fargo, where he was respected for his technical skill, strong work ethic, and dependability.
Dave was truly the life of the party. His quick wit and well-timed jokes could light up any room; laughter followed him wherever he went. He loved bringing people together and enjoyed cooking for others, becoming especially known for his amazing ribs and chicken wings, which were always a favorite at gatherings.
An outdoorsman at heart, Dave loved hunting and fishing and enjoyed performing small engine repair. Deer hunting was his greatest passion; in the fall he would be busy bow, rifle, or muzzle-loading, completely at peace in the outdoors.
Above all else, Dave cherished his family. He was a loving husband to Jennifer, a proud father to Ryan and Alyssa, and a devoted grandfather to Gianna, who brought him immense joy. He will be remembered for his kindness, gentle spirit, infectious laughter, and the many everyday moments that made life brighter for those around him.
David is survived by his wife of nearly 29 years, Jennifer; son Ryan (Maria); daughter Alyssa; granddaughter Gianna; sisters Mary (Mike) Stoltman, Julie (Lee) Livdahl, Elaine (Earl) Ehalt, and Diane Sather; mother-in-law Kathryn Lynnes; brothers-in-law Jene (Kathy), Jere (Cherie), Jason (Kristen), Jared (Niki), Josh, and Jeremy (Reanna); aunt JoAnn Johnson, and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Donna Mae Sather; his grandparents; and his father-in-law, Jerald Lynnes.
Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 PM with Funeral service at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Grove Lake Lutheran Church (outside of Pelican Rapids: 17511 470th St).
Blessed be the memory of David Sather.
