David Weslie "Pop's" McDilda, age 80, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2025, at Tattnall Health Care in Reidsville. He was born in Lyons on December 14, 1944, to Ollie and Edna Rountree McDilda and had lived in Toombs County all of his life. David was a proud graduate of Lyons High School. His passion for service led him to a distinguished career, during which he served as a police officer for an impressive 37 years, ultimately retiring as a sergeant from the Lyons Police Department. In addition to his law enforcement career, he was the owner of D & A Concrete and Finishing, a landscaping company that reflected his commitment to his craft and his community.
David held many interests outside of his professional life. He had a deep love for traveling and cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, creating lasting memories filled with joy and laughter. His generous spirit and warm heart touched the lives of many, and his presence will be profoundly missed.
David is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Hollis McDilda.
He is survived by his lifelong companion, Geraldine Davis of Lyons; his sons and daughters in love, Terry and Sindy Davis of Cedar Crossing and Chris Davis of Vidalia; his grandchildren, Vicky (Marty) Griffin, Dana Davis (Will); great grandchildren, Clayton (Christina) Creamer, Jayda Creamer (Lucas), Karson Davis and Kayson Widener; great great grandson, Briar Campbell; several siblings.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation at Low Country Cremation & Burial located at 135 Jordan Street, Reidsville, GA, on June 12, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM. Following the visitation, a graveside service will be held at Reidsville City Cemetery starting at 11:00 AM, where those who knew and loved David can come together to honor and celebrate his life.
Memorials may be given to Sweet Onion Animal Protection Society in Vidalia.
