It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of David Lee McDonald, a beloved partner, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, on March 30, 2026. Born on August 3, 1966, in Xenia, Ohio, David was a beacon of warmth, kindness, and humor who left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to know him.

David's life was a testament to the joy of simple pleasures and the importance of family. He spent his career as an auto mechanic, a profession that reflected his passion for cars and his remarkable skill with all things mechanical. Known as a true motorhead, David's love for cars wasn't just a job; it was a cherished hobby. His hands worked magic on engines, and his heart found joy in the hum of a well-tuned motor.

Beyond the garage, David found solace and excitement in the great outdoors, particularly during his fishing trips. These moments by the water were where he felt most at peace, casting his line into the depths, reflecting on life, and enjoying the company of friends and family. At the poker table, David's sharp mind and laid-back demeanor made him a formidable player, his laughter often the loudest as he reveled in the camaraderie and competition.

David had an incredible sense of humor that could light up the darkest room and a laid-back attitude that endeared him to everyone he met. He approached life with a smile and an open heart, always ready with a joke or a kind word. His ability to find joy in the everyday and share it with others was a gift that will be sorely missed.

David is survived by his loving partner, Melisa Saylor, who stood by his side through thick and thin. He leaves behind a legacy of love with his daughter, Kristina Saylor, and her husband, Adrian, who blessed him with two wonderful grandchildren, DJ and Manuel, whom he adored beyond measure. David is also survived by his son, Joshua Perkins.

He was a cherished brother to Shari Simpson and her husband, Bill, and Daniel McDonald, who shared countless memories and adventures with him. David's extended family, including many nieces, Holly and Katrina and nephew, Jake, will remember him as the fun-loving uncle who always had time for laughter and stories.

David was predeceased by his parents and his dear niece, Gwenna McDonald, who welcomed him with open arms into the eternal embrace of peace.

As we bid farewell to David, we celebrate a life lived with love, laughter, and a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures. He taught us that happiness is found in a well-tuned engine, a line cast into the water, and a hand of cards shared with friends. Though he has left this world, his spirit will forever echo in the laughter of his grandchildren, the stories of his family, and the many lives he touched.
