Michael McDonald Obituary
Nephew to John (Sheila), Myles (Sheila), Margaret (Thomas), pre-deceased Bridget, Kathleen, Patrick & James. Cousin to Finola, Kathleen, Margie, Patrick, John, Catherine, Mary, Patrick & James. Plus a multitude of extended family in the Tri-State area, Ireland, England & Dominican Republic.
Michael grew up in the Bronx (Fordham then Riverdale) and attended St. Margaret's of Cortona grammar school then Mount Saint Michael Academy with a quick stint at Mount Saint Vincent College.
Mike's calling was engineering. He started out as an IUOE Local 94 Fireman in the NYC BOE then moved over to Commercial Real Estate as an Operating Engineer. He started there at 26 Federal Plaza then moved to 1515 Broadway as an engineer then promoted to Assistant Chief Engineer with 29 years of service there and over 30 years in the union.
Mike's main loves in his life, besides his family & friends was travel & music which he would combine frequently. Music was such a major part of his daily life whether it was seeking out new music or attending live concerts over many decades.
As a person, Mike was larger than life personality to those in his inner circle but reserved to the rest of the world. A loyal friend to all that knew him.
Reposing Tuesday, March 31st from 4:00pm - 8:00pm at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx NY 10471. A Christian Mass will take place on Wednesday, April 1st at 9:45am at St. Margaret of Cortona Church, 6000 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx NY 10471. Committal private.
