Dave, it's been a long time since you've been gone, but to me it feels like yesterday, I'll never forget that call I got that shocked my world. I think about you every year on that special day of October 17th since you shared your birthday with my daughter Haley. I'm sure you remember her as just a little one and now this year, she'll be 15 yrs old. HOLY COW!!!!! Makes us feel old huh...... Wow ! Another year has passed' since we last celabrated your life.As we stand around your grave remembering all the wonderful times we shares with you. As Dylan and Niki knelt down to say a few words,We Love You, And Miss You still, as the tears still rolls down Niki's Cheeks,as I walk over to Dylan and let him know that his Daddy would be very proud of him. As were leaving the cemetary, Dylan ask,why does mommy still cry,I spoke and said well your mommy loved your daddy so much,that it still hurt's. And that your mommy will love him til the day she dies. Always in our HEART"S Love Mom.

I regret that time did not allow me to get to know David as well as I would have liked. I do have consolation though, I see David everytime I look at Dylan. David's Sparkling Eyes, High Cheekbones and Strong Brow are preserved in his Son's face. As Dylan grows, he will feel Honor and Pride everytime he looks in a Mirror. He will know what a Beautiful, Brave, and Loving Person his Dad was in Life. How Blessed and fortunate we were to have had the chance to know this wonderful Man during his short time on Earth. Its hard to believe its been almost 4 years since the longest drive we ever took.... to Nebraska for your funeral. Dave and I still talk about you ALL THE TIME:) He wears his Hero Bracelet religiously everyday with you on it. I know your family loves and misses you so much, even more as time passes, as do we. My heart breaks that Dylan had such a small amount of time with you. Five years ago I said goodbye to you at the airport in Frankfurt expecting to see you again. Instead of making new memories, all that I have are the thoughts of our time together in Germany. You making fun of my Christmas Socks, trying to "break-in" to Guest Housing and our "Double Date Plus Costa" and of course that drive to the airport. I'll never get the image of Don, Nikki and you - carrying Dylan - walking away from me that morning at the airport. I so wish that things had turned out differently. Miss you.

I don't pretend to know what to say or do that would bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Its hard to believe it has almost been 2 years. This past weekend we drove past Giessen where you were last stationed. It made us so sad... Dave said it would have been awesome to be here with you. You're talked about often, esp by Taylor, so you will live on forever through our memories... and there are plenty of those to go around!!

I received a bracelet with David's name, a week ago. I sang Amazing Grace at a sendoff rally for Cindy Sheehan. My best friend is with "Military Families Speak Out". Her son-in-law is currently in Iraq, and he has a beautiful 4-month old daughter. I was curious to see who David was, and I just want to say that after seeing his picture and reading about him, it really broke my heart knowing that he left a wife and young child. My prayers to you and all your family for your tragic loss. I wear his name proudly.

My deepest heartfelt condolences to you and the family. My sister Mary Kay, grew up with David, but I did not have the pleasure of knowing him. I am just a grateful American citizen, sending my gratitude to those who actually deserve it. David truly was a Great American Hero.

i first met ur son and/or husband when i got to iraq last year. he helped me every step of the way and he meant more to me because i looked at him as a father figure when i was deployed to iraq last year. i still cant get over it that he has passed away and i do not mean any disrespect to his family and his wifes family either. i know how it feels to lose a loved one. if u want to email me my address is [email protected] ok. say hi to the proud little man of the house for me ok ma'am.

Dear McKeever Family:
There are no words which can convey how much your son meant to me. Although you don't know me, my son was in the unit with your son when they were attacked. He had befriended my son, who had only recently been deployed to Iraq. He was a young soldier of only 19, who had enlisted in the army right out of high school Logan only wanted to prove that he was worthy to serve. He is a quiet young man who never really had many friends thru high school. David constantly encouraged him throughout their stay in Iraq. Needless to say, we are all impacted by his loss, especially Logan. I will forever be grateful for his friendship with my son. He truly was a guardian angel for my son. My prayers are with you all.

Though I did not know David, my heart goes out to all the families who have lost loved ones in this and all wars. I am so sorry, but I am so proud of the bravery that soldiers like David have shown. I want you all to know, especially his son, how proud we as a nation are of David, and how much I personally appreciate his courage and devotion to his country. May God bless David, his wife and son, and your entire family.

My heart goes out to Niki and Dylan, and the family of Sgt. McKeever. I cannot fathom the loss of a loved one like this, but he died protecting our freedom and I have nothing but respect for that.
