David Fernand Mercier

David F. Mercier Jr. of Quincy MA passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026, with his daughters by his side.

He was the beloved husband of Geralyn Connor Mercier for over 59 years. Dedicated father of Carolyn Freeman (Billy) of Quincy, MA, April Segalla (Paul) of Hanover, MA and Adrienne Taylor of Quincy MA.

Son of the late David F. Mercier and Martha Alexander Mercier. Steadfast brother to Richard Mercier of Lee, VA, Gail Barrette of Worcester, MA and the late Dianne Mercier of Quincy, MA.

Adored Da to his seven grandchildren Paige and Justin Keenan, Patrick and Daniel Freeman, Owen and Cal Taylor, Kathyrn Segalla and three great-grandchildren Abigail, Shawn and Madeline Cook.

David retired from State Street Bank and Trust as a Vice President in sales. His retirement capped off a successful career in banking that started in the mid-60s as a teller at Colonial Federal Savings Bank.

David was an avid reader, golf enthusiast, foodie, New England sports fan and proud ex-Marine.

He loved going to the beach with his sweetie, Gerry. His passion for playing golf was most often at his second home, the South Shore Country Club where he made many friends and many great memories. But, his greatest joy, was going to the rink, the field or the courts to watch his favorite people in the world, his grandchildren, play sports.

He was a kind and gentleman with a great sense of honor and love of family, friends and country.

He will be sorely missed and joyfully remembered.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to his visitation on Friday, January 23, 2026 from 9:00-10:00am at the Hamel-Lydon Chapel, 650 Hancock St, Quincy. Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30am in Sacred Heart Church of Divine Mercy Parish, 386 Hancock St, Quincy. Interment private.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations in David's memory be directed to Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave, floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601
