David Bryon Mical, 64, passed away peacefully at ECU Medical Center in Greenville, NC on September 21, 2024. He was known affectionately by his friends and family as Dave. Dave was born on August 25, 1960, in Portsmouth, Virginia to Ed P. Mical and Mildred Sholar.
He lived in Wallace, NC but for the past 22 years lived part-time between Beaufort, NC and Wallace, NC. He worked at Carolina Turkeys, now Butterball in Mt. Olive, NC for 35 plus years. Dave worked over the years in many different departments working his way up to supervisory and management positions. He had to retire early due to health issues he suffered from contracting Covid in 2020.
Dave loved anything to do with the salt water, from fishing, clamming, boating, and camping at Shackleford Banks for the annual family Mical fishing trip which he started 21 years ago. Dave loved to travel, and he and Annette traveled to many states making lots of new friends wherever they went.
Dave is survived by his daughter Brittany Arnold, two grandchildren Luna and Arlo of Pennsylvania. His long-term companion of 22 years, Annette Springle of Beaufort, NC. Amanda Woodring of Beaufort, NC, whom Dave loved like a daughter. His father, Ed Mical of Naples, Florida. His sister, Teresa Maready, and husband Michael, of Wallace, NC. His stepsister, Lisa Ballantyne and husband, Jack, of Temple, Texas. His nephew, Matthew Mical and his wife, Dory of Wallace, NC and his niece, Cindy Mical of Wallace, NC. His beloved cat Oreo. He is preceded in death by his mother Mildred Rhea, his brother Paul Mical, his stepmother, Betty Perkins-Mical, and his stepbrother, David Perkins. His beloved dog, Maggie.
Dave will be remembered for his love of life, never knowing a stranger and being a true storyteller. Also, for his passion and knowledge of antique Farmall tractors. He loved going to tractor shows and exhibits. If there were any tractor games at a show you could find him there competing.
He will be deeply missed. His love for family and friends will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
No services are planned at this time, but the family will be holding a celebration of life for Dave at a later date.
