David Lloyd Middlekauff, aged 82, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2025, at the VA hospital in Baltimore, MD. Born on December 17, 1942, in Gloucester, MA, David lived a full and vibrant life marked by his unwavering devotion to family and his many passions.
A devoted husband to Catherine for 44 glorious years, David's legacy further lives on through his loving children, Michelle Sultzbach and her husband Troy, Michael Middlekauff, and Melissa McPherson with her husband Matthew. His warmth and generosity also made him a cherished figure among a wide circle of friends who survive him, celebrating the memory of a man who touched so many lives.
David honorably served in the Navy for four years and held a special admiration for the USS Oriskany. His talents were many and varied, including the intricate crafting of his own telescopes and wooden boats, demonstrating the hands of a craftsman and the soul of an artist.
An enthusiast of the stars, David loved astronomy, finding as much joy in the quiet patience of crabbing and fishing as he did in capturing fleeting moments through his photography. A familiar face at Dunkin Donuts in Parkville, MD, he equally cherished his visits to the Chesapeake Maritime Museum. His loving and passionate spirit will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. David fought the good fight, never gave up and never gave in, his journey on earth may have concluded, but the impact of his kindness and passion will reverberate for generations.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in honor of David to: https://donatelife.net/ or your local VA Hospital.
A celebration of life service for Dave will be held by his family at a later date.
