Obituary of Joshua James Middlekauff
Joshua James Middlekauff, 43 years old of Eugene, Oregon, passed away unexpectedly on October 6, 2023 and is at peace in Heaven sharing Orange Diet Crush with the angels. Joshua was born on February 6, 1980 to George and Linda Middlekauff in Circleville, Ohio. Joshua was the youngest of three and has an older brother Andy and sister Cindy. Joshua graduated from Roseburg High School and received his Doctor of Nursing Practice from University of Michigan. Josh's compassionate ear was a gift to his beloved patients at Best Med.
Joshua had an authentic heart for God and those around him. He loved Christian worship music and gangster rap, the movie theater, Starbucks coffee, buying the coolest shoes and hats, and joyously eating popcorn for dinner when his wife needed cooking breaks.
Josh's favorite hobby was doting on his wife and letting her know that she was the most special woman in the world. He and Megan were married on May 17, 2020 and were raising four beautiful children, Aria, Jackson, Jonah and Lincoln, who lovingly referred to him as daddy or pretzel pop. The family loved adventure, but Josh's favorite time was kicking back, holding his wife's hand as they watched the children enjoy playing together.
Josh was a dynamic person with a strong presence. He could move a room to laughter at the perfect time with his quick wit and humor, and would full-body laugh with a twinkle in his eyes. Joshua was a generous soul, kind listener putting others at ease, and would spend hours of thought finding perfect gifts for others.
Joshua loved his family deeply and fought for life through tremendous suffering and pain. His wife was fortunate enough to spend the last weeks of his life caring for and holding him. Joshua, you are irreplaceable, and the world is so very quiet without your passionate spirit and your quick wit.
Joshua is survived by Megan Middlekauff and their children Jackson Middlekauff, Jonah Middlekauff, Aria Beiring, and Lincoln Beiring; parents George and Linda Middkekauff of Roseburg Oregon; oldest sister Cindy Klaniecki and husband Jeremy Klaniecki of Helena Montana; brother Andy Middkekauff and wife Edith Middlekauff of Bakersfield California; and nieces and nephews Grant Middkekauff, Gus Klaniecki, Ruthanne Middlekauff, John Middkekauff, June Klaniecki, and Joy Middkekauff.

Josh, you will truly be missed by many. I am honored to have had the opportunity to work with you. You kept me grounded with compassion that I sometimes lost. I thank you for all your support during my rough times with my daughter. Not only were you an angle down here, you will be a bigger one up there.

Josh was a good friend of mine in Santa Cruz. We spend many days at the beach playing frisbee, enjoying trips to our favorite taqueria, enjoying trivia nights, and playing pool at a local dive bar.

He was a fantastic and joyful presence for me and an overwhelmingly positive influence; I'll think back on the years I spent as his friend with a lot of laughter and gratitude.

I have a memory from about 2004-2005 that was always funny for me to think back on:
We were at my house in Capitola and I made some quesadillas as a snack. Knowing his penchant for hot sauce, I showed him my collection and he chose the Mad Dog 357-which is very hot-; he SMOTHERED the quesadilla with it. I begged him not to eat it, but he stubbornly added more and more. He consumed the whole thing, broke out in a sweat, went silent for a few minutes, then laid down on my couch. He stayed there quietly for a about an hour, then in a moment of unexpected vibrance made for himself an Irish Goodbye.
I spoke to him the next day and we laughed about the whole ordeal.

I've missed him over the years and that won't change.

May his memory be eternal!
