Hjurdis Marcelle Baeth

Hjurdis Marcelle Baeth was born on June 7, 1926, in Litchfield ND to Norwegian parents, Ole and Gunhild Nypen. She grew up on a farm and spoke Norwegian until attending first grade in a one room schoolhouse.
After high school she married Vern Baeth. They were married for 32 years, until his death in 1976.
When their first son Darryl was 2 years old, they moved from ND to Springfield Oregon, where Vern had gotten a job at a local mill. They lived in a small house on 16th street where their second son Rick was born. The Baeth family lived there for 9 years, next door to Vern's brother Bud and his wife and son Ruth and Marlin.
When Vern passed away in 1976 Hjurdis continued working at McKenzie Willamette Hospital and ended up living in a house on Modoc Street for over 60 years. When Hjurdis was in her 70's she reunited with a childhood friend, Kaare Gimse and they spent over 13 special years together. At 90 years old she moved to Woodside Assisted Living. After living a long life Hjurdis passed away at the age of 97.
Hjurdis lived a full life enjoying her family and special friends. She loved camping, fishing, square dancing, playing cards and trips to North Dakota and Norway.
Hjurdis is preceded in death by her husband Vern, her parents Gunhild and Ole Nypen, her brothers Allen and LeRoy Nypen, her sister Elsie Olson and her special friend Kaare Gimse.
She is survived by her son Darryl and wife Joanne, her son Rick and wife Deb, grandchildren Cory, Dane, Stephanie and Lindsey and great grandchildren Nate, Emma, Madison, Landon, Carson, Cohlton and Wyatt
