David Middleton
Jacksonville - David L. Middleton, 78, of Jacksonville passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born February 9, 1948, in Jacksonville, the son of Robert Harold, Jr. and Mildred Louise German Middleton. He married Karen Fitzsimmons on August 14, 1982, in Jacksonville, and she survives.
David is also survived by his children, Sean (Holly) Middleton and Kristie (Tony ) Maro, both of Jacksonville, Chris (Lorie) Morris of Alexander, and Angela (Marc) Britenstine of Woodson; eleven grandchildren, Alex (Kenia) Middleton and Kyle (Abbi) Middleton, both of Jacksonville, Emily Middleton of Florida, Lexi (Corey) Baker of Jacksonville, Camri (Reid) Pratt of Missouri, Madi, Ashley, and Nicole Maro, all of Jacksonville, Riley Morris of Tennessee, Maggie Kaylor of Chatham, and Abbie Britenstine of Woodson; eight great-grandchildren, and two nephews, Zach (Tammy) White and Luke (Jennifer) White, both of Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Andrew David Middleton (surviving wife Lisa Powers of Jacksonville), one grandson, Braden Morris, and his sister, Nancy White.
David spent his lifetime farming ground southwest of Jacksonville, ground that has been in his family for four generations. He also raised hogs, sheep, and cattle on the farm. He showed livestock as a young man for many years in 4-H and made sure that involvement with 4-H carried through to his children and grandchildren. For many years, David was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, where he served in many capacities and was proud to have been one of the founding members. An avid bowler, David participated in league tournaments for many years.
David loved taking his family on fall outings. In the early days, the trips consisted of David and Karen and the children. Later, as his family grew, David earned his CDL driver's license so he could take everyone in a bus. In addition to family trips, David and Karen enjoyed many trips to Branson where they enjoyed the music shows. They also enjoyed attending their children's and grandchildren's many activities. David was the proud owner of a 1991 Corvette and enjoyed attending Corvette shows. Above all else, David cherished his family and the time he spent with them.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Williamson Funeral Home, with burial at Diamond Grove Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2026, at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Morgan County 4-H Foundation or Tunnels to Towers.
