David Miller Obituary

David "Dave" Miller, age 62, of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, passed away on August 6, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of bold character, loyalty, and unwavering passion for the outdoors.

Born on July 18, 1963, to Gerald and Jean Miller, Dave grew up in Oshkosh during the vibrant decades of the 60s and 70s, a fitting backdrop for a natural rebel who lived life on his own terms. Whether it was his unapologetic honesty or his affection for camouflage, Dave's presence was unmistakable. His home was a true "man cave," a shrine to all things camo and outdoor life.

After high school, Dave pursued a career in manufacturing, working for many years at Morgan Door Company in Oshkosh, before spending the last 25 years at Pierce Manufacturing in Appleton. In addition, his passion for wildlife led to graduating from FVTC-Taxidermy School in 1983. Opening Miller's Taxidermy Studio, which he operated for many years.

An avid outdoorsman, Dave could often be found in the woods, on the water, or in "The Hilton"-his beloved deer stand, a small fortress of peace and purpose. Whether hunting, fishing, or tinkering with his boat, ATV, or ice shanty, Dave found joy in the simplicity of nature and the camaraderie that came with sharing it.

Gruff on the outside but known as a "gentle grizzly bear," Dave had a heart of gold. His brash humor and colorful opinions often filled the room, but so did his generosity. He would give the shirt off his back without hesitation, expecting nothing in return. His actions spoke louder than words, and he expressed love through time, effort, and shared experience.

Dave's daughters, Jessica and Jennifer, and his granddaughters, Taylar and Adalynn, were the pride and joy of his life. He cherished hunting with Taylar and adored the special secret handshake he shared with Adalynn. Even his tiny grand-pups-Hank, Livy, and Dexter-held a special place in his big heart.

Later in life, Dave found true happiness with Anne Boyce. After years of friendship, the two became inseparable-partners in crime who brought out the best in one another. Together, they shared laughter, love, fun with many friends as well as quiet nights at home.

Dave was a dedicated member of several local outdoor organizations, including the Otter Street Fishing Club, Sturgeon for Tomorrow, and Whitetails Unlimited. He was a familiar face at community events, promoting raffle ticket sales and volunteering for many years at the OSFC Kid's Fisheree, finding deep joy in introducing children to the outdoors and love of fishing.

Dave is preceded in death by his grandmother, Mary Ayers; mother, Jean Miller; mentor and friend, Ken Christianson; grandson, Everett Reich; and the love of his life, Anne Boyce.

He is survived by his father, Gerald Miller; brother, Daniel (Cyndi) Miller; daughters, Jessica (Justin) Reich and Jennifer (Ally) Miller-Karau; granddaughters, Taylar and Adalynn; nieces, Morgan (Justin) Miller and Katie Miller; great-nephew Braiden; great-niece Jasmine and countless friends and extended family.

The Miller family is eternally grateful for the care and support Dave received from all those part of his care team at ThedaCare Oncology and ThedaCare Hospice at Cherry Meadows. Particularly Nicole Reddick, PA-C with TC Cancer Center for your compassion and love throughout Dave's journey. As well as the amazing nursing staff of Cherry Meadows Hospice: Lisa, Bobbie, Karen, Roberta and Stephanie. Each one being true gifts during the final weeks.

A celebration of life will begin at 10:00am until 12:00pm, on August 15, 2025, at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home, located at 100 Lake Point Drive in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. In David's remembrance, the family has asked for visitors to wear their favorite camouflage clothing. A reception will follow from 2:00pm to 6:00pm at Jerry's Bar, 1210 Ceape Ave. Oshkosh WI.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Dave's name to benefit the Otter Street Fishing Club Kid's Fisheree-continuing his legacy of supporting the next generation of anglers for years to come. Donations can be mailed to The Otter Street Fishing Club PO Box 271 Oshkosh, WI 54903 or shared with the Miller family.
