David E. Muhle

April 19, 1958 - June 11, 2025

David E. Muhle, 67, of Leigh, Neb., died Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at the University Medical Center in Omaha, Neb.

The funeral service will be held Monday, June 16, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Creston, Neb., with the Rev. Douglas Zurek officiating. Interment will be held at Creston Pioneer Cemetery, rural Leigh. There will be a family prayer service on Monday at 10:15 a.m., at the church. Memorials are suggested to Creston Pioneer Cemetery Association, Orphan Grain Train, or family or donor's choice.

David Muhle was born April 19, 1958, in Columbus, Neb., to Earl and Edna (Osterthun) Muhle. He was baptized and confirmed his Christian faith through confirmation at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Creston, Nebraska. David attended Platte County District 58 Grade School and graduated from Lakeview High School in 1976. David went on to graduate from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln with a degree in Agricultural Economics in 1980. After college he returned home to farm with his dad near Creston. On September 25, 1983, David was united in marriage to Sandy Hillen at St. Peter Lutheran Church. In 1989 they moved to the Hillen family farm where he raised his family and continued to farm and reside until his death.

David was a faithful lifetime member of St. Peter Lutheran Church where he had served on the church council, taught Sunday school and confirmation. He had a strong Christian faith, read his bible regularly, and was ready to meet his Lord and Savior.

David was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending their activities. David enjoyed all sports, but especially the Nebraska Cornhusker Football team and was an encyclopedia when it came to Husker trivia.

David is survived by his wife, Sandy Muhle of Leigh; son, Adam (Christine) Muhle of Rochester, Minn.; grandchildren, Caleb and Hannah; son, Craig (Hilary) Muhle of Bennington, Neb.; grandchildren, Charlotte, Tanner, Barrett, and Hunter; son, Scott (Becky) Muhle of Creston; grandchild, Raylee; brother, Michael (Monique) Muhle of Creston; and sister, Jeanie Muhle of Creston.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Edna Muhle; and brother, Neal Muhle.
