David Nash Obituary

David Alan Nash
July 22, 1950 - January 7, 2026
David Alan Nash passed away on January 7, 2026, from natural causes related to diabetes and kidney failure. He slipped away peacefully beside his wife of 54 years, Sylvia Nash.
David was born on July 22, 1950, in Washington, DC, to Samuel and F. Patricia Nash, and grew up in Rockville, Maryland. He graduated from Robert E. Peary High School in 1968 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Maryland in 1972.
David and Sylvia met in 1965 and were married on June 5, 1971, at Saint Andrew's Catholic Church in Silver Spring, Maryland. David began his career with the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Soil Conservation Service, serving communities across Delaware, Nebraska, and Northern Arizona. In 1982, the family settled in Flagstaff, where David later began a second career as a financial advisor with New York Life, serving clients for 35 years until retirement.
David was passionate about the outdoors, gardening, photography, and community service. He was a past president of the Flagstaff Rotary Club, served on the finance board of Flagstaff Medical Center, and helped establish the Flagstaff Snow Play Area at Fort Tuthill. He also enjoyed model railroading and served as past president of the Flagstaff Model Railroad Club.
David is survived by his wife, two sons, two brothers, and eight grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 7, 11:00 a.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2401 E. Linda Vista Dr, in Flagstaff.
